FAQ
Class actions transform an individual dispute into systemic litigation with amplified financial, reputational and operational stakes. Introduced in French law by Law No. 2014-344 of 17 March 2014 (Hamon Act) for consumer disputes, the French class action was extended by Law No. 2016-1547 of 18 November 2016 to health, the environment, personal data protection and workplace discrimination. Each area is governed by specific procedural rules that determine the admissibility of the action and the nature of compensable losses. Companies must anticipate these mechanisms to structure their defence from the first alert.
